May 25, 2020, Chicago, Illinois, US: On May 25, State Street in Chicago was quiet under the shelte-in-place order by Governor J.B. Pritzker due to the Coronavirus pandemic. That day, George Floyd, an African American man in Minneapolis, died after being arrested by a policeman who suffocated him by putting the weight of his knee on his neck. Protests began to erupt which escalated into violence, looting and fires across the nation. In Chicago, store windows were broken, looting erupted and businesses and cars were set on fire.
