    Francke Foundations digitize inventory

11 May 2021, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): A diary by the Hall missionary Johann Andreas Manitius (1707-1758) is on display at the Francke Foundations‘ Study Centre in Halle/Saale. An inconspicuous note in the diary has made researchers on the composer George Frideric Handel sit up and take notice. The note was discovered during the digitization of the collection. The foundations want to increase the digitisation of their cultural studies holdings. To this end, the institution has been provided with funds for the purchase of a high-performance scanner as part of the state‘s digitisation offensive. Now the systematic digitization is to be advanced in the study center. The Francke Foundations go back to the Protestant pastor August Herrmann Francke. He initially established the foundations in an orphanage in the 17th century. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ
