  美作市楢原地区で収穫の最盛期を迎えたダルマササゲ。　赤飯などに使われる縁起物の赤い豆「ダルマササゲ」の収穫が、岡山県美作市楢原地区で最盛期を迎えている。生産者が手作業でさやを摘み取り、乾燥させて脱穀機を通すと、つやつやの粒が姿を現す。アフリカ原産のダルマササゲは小豆に似ており、煮ても皮が割れにくい。皮が薄くて裂ける小豆は武士の切腹を連想させて縁起が悪いとされることから、主に関東で赤飯をはじめ、おはぎ、ようかんなどの材料に用いられる。＝２０２５（令和７）年７月１６日、岡山県美作市楢原地区、クレジット：山陽新聞／共同通信イメージズ
