Yotam Haim, Samer Talalka, Alon Shamriz were kidnapped from southern Israel on Oct. 7 by Hamas militants and taken back to the Gaza Strip. Israel launched an air and ground campaign in Gaza soon thereafter in an effort to defeat Hamas. In November, a weeklong ceasefire allowed for the negotiated release of some hostages, but more than 100 remain in captivity.
