Janika Edmond was a woman from Adrian, Michigan who committed suicide within the Women‘s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Edmond had made it known to the guards she posed a threat to herself, but the guards did not stop her from committing suicide.., Demonstrators turned out in Ann Arbor for the âSay Her Name: Aura Rosserâ rally, candlelight vigil and march. The event began at the Ann Arbor City Hall building and looped through the streets of Ann Arbor until demonstrators ended up back at the Ann Arbor City Hall building. This event was in response to the police shooting of Aura Rosser, a black woman who struggled with mental illness. This event takes place almost exactly six years from the day Rosser died.
