Federal President and his wife meet Iranian human rights activist

08 September 2020, Berlin: Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender (M) meet Mansoureh Shojaee (l), an Iranian women‘s rights activist and confidante of the Iranian lawyer Nasrin Sotudeh, who was awarded the Human Rights Award 2020 by the German Judges‘ Association, at Bellevue Palace. The 57-year-old Sotudeh is one of the most well-known Iranian human rights defenders. Sotudeh is currently on hunger strike in Iranian custody to protest against the conditions of detention during the Corona pandemic. Iran has so far released numerous detainees during the pandemic. However, Sotudeh and other civil rights activists have remained behind bars. Photo: Bernd von Jutrczenka/dpa、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ
