Museums Of Kyiv Are Rethinking Their Work In The New Conditions Of Russian-Ukrainian War

KYIV, UKRAINE - AUGUST 10: Exhibits at the opening of Oleh Kalashnik’s exhibition “Toy Soldiers: Invasion” at The Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Arts on August 10, 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine. With the introduction of martial law, artifacts of The Khanenko Museum have been moved to storage in case of possible damage from shelling. In place art work from contemporary Ukrainian artists has been added to the empty halls, the first of which is the artist and sculptor Oleh Kalashnik, who lives and works in Kharkiv. Kalashnik’s “Toy Soldiers” are exhibited in the halls of the Oriental Art collection, where before the start of the full-scale war, ritual items and elements of weapons were also exhibited.
