The tower had survived the Thirty Years‘ War, while the half-timbered hall had to be rebuilt in 1687. The approximately 84-kilometer-long river is considered one of the cleanest rivers in Germany and is a tributary of the Elbe in Brandenburg. Since 1999, sea trout and young salmon, which were considered extinct in the middle of the 20th century, have been released in the Stepenitz.
