2021年05月26日69. The wreath-laying ceremony took place on the 69th anniversary of the establishment of the GDR border regime and the associated forced resettlements from the restricted area. On May 26, 1952, a police order was issued establishing a 5-kilometer-wide restricted area, a 50-meter-wide protective zone, and a 10-meter-wide control strip along the inner-German border. The initial board fence and the control strip were further extended in the following years.
