Glass eel trimming in the Groß Schauener lake chain

15 March 2019, Brandenburg, Storkow: Young glass eels are set with a landing net in a water bucket on the area of the fishery Köllnitz. On the same day around 45,000 glass eels were placed in the water of the Groß Schauener Seenkette. The small transparent eels are about seven centimeters in size and weigh 0.3 grams. Born in the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic Ocean, they needed three years to cross the European coasts with the help of the Gulf Stream. There the eels are fished every year and brought into the European inland. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ
