In the next frame stands a bare torsoed female figure with one hand on her hip, and the other holding on to the branch of a tree. According to the ancient Sanskrit text, the Mahaparinirvana-sutra, the Buddha himself gave detailed instructions for the cremation of his body and the preservation of his relics. He apparently died in the kingdom of the Mallas of Kushinagara and they performed the final rites and ceremonies as he had sanctioned. WEB不可2015年08月13日ウズベクの踊り子たち シルクロードに思いはせ中央アジアのウズベキスタン南部にある古都ブハラ。サンスクリット語で「僧院」を意味する言葉が、町の名の由来とされる。9世紀に黄金期を迎え、13世紀にモンゴル帝国により壊滅。再興した16世紀当時の姿がほぼそのまま現在の旧市街に残る。夕方、空はあかね色に染まり、17世紀初頭に建てられたマドラサ(イスラム神学校)の中庭で民族舞踊のコンサートが始まった。色鮮やかな衣装を身にまとった踊り子たちが、ウズベクの太鼓や笛、弦楽器のメロディーに合わせて舞を披露。手や指先をしなやかに動かし体を回転させると、この地域独特の刺しゅうが入った衣装の裾もふわりと宙を舞った。いつの間にかあたりは幻想的な雰囲気に包まれ、シルクロード交易で栄えたはるか昔の時代にタイムスリップしたかのようだった。(撮影・畠山卓也、共同)
