2006年05月07日ドクターフィッシュの足湯 お肌もつるつる？「キャッ、くすぐったい！」と子どもたちが足をばたつかせ声を上げる。神奈川県箱根町の箱根小涌園ユネッサンでは「ドクターフィッシュ」の足湯体験が人気を呼んでいる。「ドクターフィッシュ」はトルコなどから輸入されたガラ・ルファというコイ科の淡水魚で大きさは小さな金魚ぐらい。普段は石に付いたコケや砂の中の虫などを食べているが、温泉では人の皮膚をエサと勘違いして食べると言われている。 古い皮膚を食べてもらいエステや美肌効果は不明だが、痛くはなくて、くすぐったい「新感覚」が味わえるそうだ。
