Soldiers of the Bundeswehr search for war dead

05 September 2019, Brandenburg, Neuhardenberg: On the site of a former cemetery for German soldiers who died in World War II there are small coffins with the remains of German soldiers, a steel helmet and numbers of the former graves. On the same day soldiers of the Bundeswehr of the third company 3./901 from Havelberg in Saxony-Anhalt searched for war dead within the scope of exploratory work. Among other things, excavation work also took place on the former military cemetery at today‘s airport of Neuhardenberg. In GDR times there was a German war gravesite here. Due to the expansion of the airfield, the military cemetery was moved to Wulkow near Boo゚en. During the present excavations many remains of bones were found. When the mortal remains of the war dead were transferred at that time, many bones were forgotten and very imprecise work was done, according to Joachim Kozlowski.
