The Greek-owned single-hull tanker, operated under the Bahamas flag, ended up split in two on November 19, 2022 after giving the SOS six days earlier and with 77,000 tons of fuel oil on board. The ship lost most of its cargo during the six days that followed as it flooded the Galician estuaries with tar, affecting 2,000 kilometers of Spanish, French and Portuguese coastline.
