    The Popes‘s Amazing Cars - The Carriage Pavillon Of The Vatican Museums

    Pope PIUS XI‘s Mercedes-Benz 460 Nurburg limousine within the carriage pavillon of the Vatican Museums on March 2021.- Inaugurated in 1973 by pope Paul VI the carriage pavillon (Padiglione delle Carrozze) of the Vatican Museums shows a collection of ceremonial berlins, sedan chairs, various automobiles and popemobiles belonging to Pontiffs or Princes of the Holy Roman Church.- Donated to Pius XI on 14 November 1930 by Mercedes Benz to commemorate the Conciliation between the Church and the Italian State, the 460 Nurburg has, for reasons of protocol, a rear passenger compartment equipped with a single seat in crimson brocade, recalling the papal throne.
