First truck antitrust trial in Munich

FILED - 25 June 2018, Brandenburg, Frankfurt (Oder): A truck drives on the federal highway 87 between Frankfurt (Oder) and Müllrose. On November 14, 2018, the Munich Regional Court will hear for the first time about claims for damages against truck manufacturers for participation in the truck cartel. According to the EU Commission, the truck manufacturers Daimler, Volvo/Renault, DAF, Scania, MAN and Iveco exchanged information on technology and prices between 1997 and 2011. The Brussels competition authorities considered the cartel to be illegal and imposed fines of 3.7 billion euros. Truck antitrust suit before Munich Regional Court

24 October 2019, Bavaria, Munich: Files with the names of the defendant companies and their attorneys stand before the beginning of the trial in the courtroom. The major European truck manufacturers had been agreeing prices for years and had therefore already been fined around four billion euros by the EU Commission. Now truck buyers are also demanding compensation. 3200 forwarders claim back 867 million euros, including interest, for 84 000 allegedly overpriced trucks. The forwarders have assigned their claims to the Financialright claims litigation service provider. Financialright is the only plaintiff in the lawsuit and, if successful, collects around 30 percent of the compensation sum. Photo: Lino Mirgeler/dpa、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ
