    Spain, Extremadura, Cáceres province.

Spain, Extremadura, Cáceres province. On 9 October 1881, King Alfonso XII (1857-1885) visited the mining town of Aldea Moret, taking advantage of the trip to the nearby city of Cáceres, where he had come for the inauguration of the Madrid-Lisbon railway. The village (at present it is a district of Cáceres) was called Moret as a tribute of gratitude and appreciation to the distinguished orator and economist Segismundo Moret y Prendergast (1833-1913). The population of Aldea Moret worked in the phosphate mines, which, although they were known many years ago, were not exploited until September 1876. Thanks to his influence, Moret managed to get a branch of the railway to the mine mouth, so that the phosphorite could be distributed throughout the country. Parade of the workers before the king. Life drawing by Juan Comba. Engraving. La Ilustracion Española y Americana, 1881.、クレジット:Universal History Archive/Universal Images Group/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用に関してはお問合せください。

New mining technology of the Freiberg Mining Academy

22 October 2019, Saxony, Freiberg: Carsten Drebenstedt (r) from the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg and Oleksandr Shevchenko, scientific assistant at the university, are standing in the “Reiche Zeche“ training mine at an airlift facility. The scientists are testing a new, environmentally friendly mining technology for the extraction of raw materials using high-pressure water jets. Mineral resources are crushed with compressed air and water and conveyed to the surface. The process no longer requires any underground workings; initial experience has been gained with uranium, phosphate and coal. The research project, which is funded by the European Union, is carried out together with Polish and Czech experts. Photo: Sebastian Willnow/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB、クレジット:ZB/DPA/共同通信イメージズ
