-The Adoration of the Magi. The Adoration of the Magi. Artist: Fra Bartolomeo (Bartolomeo di Paolo del Fattorino) (Italian, Florence 1473-1517 Florence) (?). Dimensions: 10-15/16 x 9-7/16 in. (27.8 x 24.0 cm). Date: ca. 1500.In this early drawing by the artist, the Holy Family appears on a raised platform: the seated Virgin holds the blessing Christ Child on her knee and the pensive Saint Joseph stands at left. The Magi are grouped at the foot of the steps leading to the platform. On the horizon appear more knights, two watching shepherds are seen on the hill at left, and further spectators are perched on the top of a building that is lightly indicated at upper right. Fra Bartolomeo‘s composition was inspired by portrayals of the Adoration of the Magi made by Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli, all characterized by a similar pyramidal grouping. The same composition was studied by the artist、クレジット:Album/Metropolitan Museum of Art,NY/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。表紙、広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用はお問合せください。クレジットは必ず表記してください。

-The Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist. The Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist. Artist: Workshop of Fra Bartolomeo (Bartolomeo di Paolo del Fattorino) (Italian, Florence 1473-1517 Florence). Dimensions: 5-7/16 x 4-3/4 in. (13.8 x 12.0 cm). Date: ca. 1515-17.Quickly drawn in black chalk, this study was formerly part of the same sketchbook which likely also included two studies for a Madonna and Child with Infant St. John of almost the same size: one in the Museum‘s collection (no. 80.3.134; black chalk, 14.3 x 11.6 cm) and the other one in The Morgan Library & Museum, New York (inv. IV,8; black chalk, 13.5 x 9.7 cm). Even though the drawings show similarities with Fra‘ Bartolomeo‘s shorthand and late draftsmanship, the three sketchbook sheets should be attributed to a talented member of his workshop, possibly the monk Fra‘ Paolino da Pistoia (1488-1547), who inherited his master‘s drawings and cartoons at his death 、クレジット:Album/Metropolitan Museum of Art,NY/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。表紙、広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用はお問合せください。クレジットは必ず表記してください。

-architectural feature from the Doge‘s Palace in Venice(Detail) architectural feature from the Doge‘s Palace in Venice, Italy. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice. Its two most visible facdes look towards the Venetian Lagoon and St. Mark‘s Square, or rather the Piazzetta. The use of arcading in the lower stories produces an interesting ‘gravity-defying‘ effect. There is also effective use of colour contrasts. largely constructed from 1309 to 1424, designed perhaps by Filippo Calendario. It replaced earlier fortified buildings of which relatively little is known. Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon created the Porta della Carta in 1442, a monumental late-gothic gate on the Piazzetta side of the palace. This gate leads to a central courtyard. The palace was badly damaged by a fire on December 20, 1577.、クレジット:World History Archive/ニューズコム/共同通信イメージズ

-Interior courtyardInterior courtyard, facade of the Doge‘s Palace in Venice, Italy.

-Exterior facade of the Doge‘s Palace in VeniceExterior facade of the Doge‘s Palace in Venice, Italy.
