Ara macao, Print, The scarlet macaw (Ara macao) is a large red, yellow, and blue Central and South American parrot,

Ara macao, Print, The scarlet macaw (Ara macao) is a large red, yellow, and blue Central and South American parrot, a member of a large group of Neotropical parrots called macaws. It is native to humid evergreen forests of tropical Central and South America. Range extends from south-eastern Mexico to the Peruvian Amazon, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Brazil in lowlands of 500 m (1, 640 ft) (at least formerly) up to 1, 000 m (3, 281 ft). In some areas, it has suffered local extinction because of habitat destruction or capture for the parrot trade, but in other areas it remains fairly common. Formerly it ranged north to southern Tamaulipas. It can still be found on the island of Coiba. It is the national bird of Honduras. Like its relative the blue-and-yellow macaw, scarlet macaws are popular birds in aviculture as a result of their striking plumage., 1700-1880.、クレジット:Album/quintlox/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。表紙、広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用はお問合せください。クレジットは必ず表記してください。

    Cattle Egret

The cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) is a species of heron (family Ardeidae) found in the tropics, subtropics, and warm-temperate zones. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus. Originally native to parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe, it has undergone a rapid expansion in its distribution and successfully colonised much of the rest of the world in the last century. The adult cattle egret has few predators, but birds or mammals may raid its nests, and chicks may be lost to starvation, calcium deficiency, or disturbance from other large birds. This species maintains a special relationship with cattle, which extends to other large grazing mammals; wider human farming is believed to be a major cause of their suddenly expanded range. The cattle egret removes ticks and flies from cattle and consumes them. (Photo by George Wilson/NurPhoto)、クレジット:George Wilson/NurPhoto/共同通信イメージズ

    Welcome to North Korea!

Welcome to North Korea! zReportage.com Story of the Week July 17, 2012 #430. Swedish photojournalist BJORN BERGMAN, give us a rare glimpse at what is behind the North Korean curtain. For decades North Korea has been one of the world‘s most secretive societies, and remains under communist rule. North Korea‘s nuclear ambitions have exacerbated its rigidly maintained isolation from the rest of the world. The country emerged in 1948 amid the chaos following the end of World War II. Its history is dominated by its ‘Great Leader‘ Kim Il-sung. Decades of his rigid state-controlled system have led to stagnation and a leadership dependent on the cult of personality. Aid agencies have estimated that up to two million people have died since the mid-1990s of starvation caused by natural disasters and economic mismanagement. The country relies on foreign aid to feed millions of its people...、クレジット:©Bjorn Bergman/ZUMA Press Wire/共同通信イメージズ
