    Video stores fight for survival

13 November 2019, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Parchim: Videotheque and film expert Maik Micheel shows a rare Laserdisc (LD), also called Laservisiondisc, in his Videotheque “Video Aktuell“. The optical storage medium with a diameter of 30 cm was used in the 1980s for high-quality videos. One of the last video stores in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Vorpommern closes its doors after 29 years before Christmas. Opened in 1991, the rental service for films, music or computer games offered 3,000 VHS cassettes and 4,000 DVD or Blue Ray titles at its weddings. Of Germany‘s 9,000 video stores, there are fewer than 400 today, according to the association for video and media retailers. Photo: Jens Büttner/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa、クレジット:ZB/DPA/共同通信イメージズ
