In 1914, Oldfield Thomas established this genus, in which he included the culpeo and other South American foxes. These other canids were removed to Lycalopex by Langguth in 1975. Dusicyon avus, widely distributed in the late Pleistocene from Uruguay through Buenos Aires Province to southernmost Chile, is the closest known relative of the Falkland Islands wolf; the two lineages split only about 16, 000 years ago. Magic lantern slide circa 1900.Victorian/Edwardian social history. Dunedin Railway Station in Dunedin on New Zealand‘s South Island, designed by George Troup, is the city‘s fourth station. It earned its architect the nickname of “Gingerbread George“. In an eclectic, revived Flemish renaissance style, (Renaissance Revival architecture), the station is constructed of dark basalt from Kokonga in the Strath-Taieri with lighter Oamaru stone facings, giving it the distinctive light and dark pattern common to many of the grander buildings of Dunedin and Christchurch. Pink granite[3] was used for a series of supporting pillars which line a colonnade at the front. 六島の灯台

瀬戸内海に浮かぶ離島・六島。笠岡諸島の最南端の島だ。島のすぐ南を大型船や漁船が行き交う瀬戸内海の本航路が通る。霧が深く、事故が多かったため、大正１１年、岡山県初の灯台がこの島に建設された。坂本竜馬の海援隊で知られる「いろは丸」も事故で沈没、付近の海底に眠る。昭和６０年、灯台守は廃止され、灯台は無人に。周囲に建つ建物はもうないが、灯台は今も航海の安全を見守り続けている。＝１９５４（昭和２９）年７月２８日、笠岡市・六島、クレジット：山陽新聞／共同通信イメージズ
