    三菱ケミカルの炭素繊維リサイクルのパイロット設備

    三菱ケミカルは炭素繊維の再生から同繊維を樹脂と混練したコンパウンドの生産まで一貫した商業生産設備を立ち上げる。2020年にコンパウンド換算で年産3000トンの設備に投資する計画。自社グループで再生・再利用を行うことで、自動車などで炭素繊維製品の受注拡大にもつなげる。子会社の新菱(北九州市八幡西区)が国内に商業設備を新設し、炭素繊維リサイクルを行う。本格的に需要の立ち上がる21―22年には稼働させる。投資額は今後詰めるが、10億円程度とみられる。当面は顧客と新菱との間での炭素繊維強化プラスチック(CFRP)のクローズド・リサイクルを行う。顧客からCFRP端材や使用済み材の供給を受け、炭素繊維をリサイクルして熱可塑性樹脂をベースにしたコンパウンドを生産。ペレット形状で部品材料として顧客に供給する。将来はリサイクル品の一般販売も検討する。現在、北九州市内に炭素繊維を年200トン再生できるパイロット設備を持つ。CFRPを数百度に熱して樹脂を気化させ、炭素繊維だけを残す仕組み。商業設備では、気化した樹脂を燃やしてCFRPを加熱する熱源に使い、エネルギー面で無駄のない設備にする。再生した炭素繊維は新品には若干劣るが強度が高く、少ないエネルギーで生産でき、コストを低減できる。=2019(令和元)年7月30日、撮影場所不明、クレジット:日刊工業新聞/共同通信イメージズ
