身をよじり、天を仰いで悲しみにくれる母親たち。一九八八年十二月に英スコットランド上空で起きたパンアメリカン航空機爆破テロ事件で二十一歳の息子を失った女性彫刻家スージー・ローウェンスタインさんが、五十体の彫像を制作しニューヨーク州モントークの緑地に展示した。同事件では二百七十人が死亡しており、それぞれが、子供の死を知らされた母の姿を描写しているという。（ロイター＝共同）

09:08.862018年11月22日「新華社」卵彫刻、最も脆い芸術に挑戦する女性職人遼寧省丹東中国東北部の辺境の地、遼寧省丹東市に一人の女性彫刻家がいる。彼女はさまざまな動物の卵の殻に人物や花鳥、漢字などの図案を彫り込む。小さなウズラの卵からガチョウやダチョウといった大きい卵に至るまで、精密で美しい作品を作り出す。于さんが卵彫刻を始めたのは２５年前。彫刻技術は、当時大連である程度の知名度があった年画（春節に飾る伝統絵画）作家の祖父から受け継いだものだ。中国の伝統文化が好きな于さんは、漢字や京劇の隈取芸術、敦煌壁画などを卵の殻に彫り込む。その作業は、科学の実験のように少しずつ成果を確かめるように進められる。于さんは「１回に１００個の卵を買います。卵の底に穴を開けて中身を出し、小刀で内側の薄皮を剥がしてから陰干しにします。日干しにすると殻が劣化し彫刻の際に壊れやすくなってしまいます」と語る。ざっと計算しただけでも、これまでに１万個以上の卵を使ったという。于さんは、卵彫刻は両手の絶妙な力の入れ方にかかっていると語る。于さんの卵彫刻は丹東市の無形文化財として登録されており、自身も遼寧省の「工芸美術名人」、中国軽工業連合会の「軽工業大国の職人」に認定されている。于さんは「彫刻は引き算の芸術。引きすぎてしまえば元に戻すことはできない。卵彫刻と言えば、追い求めるのは胸のときめき。一つの作品が仕上がった時の達成感はさらに大きくなる」と語る。卵彫刻の技術と伝統文化をさらに結合させ、人びとに「最も脆い芸術」をもっと楽しんでもらうのが于さんの望みだという。（記者／劉斌）＜映像内容＞女性彫刻家の卵彫刻の様子、撮影日：撮影日不明、クレジット：新華社／共同通信イメージズ
