Responding to Turkeyââ¬â¢s shocking March 20th decree to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention on the preventing and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, residents of Munich, Germany assembled at Wittelsbacherplatz to protest and bring light to the meaning of the convention. The convention was signed in 2012 and covers domestic violence against women, psychological and physical abuse, sexual harassment, rape, honour crimes, stalking, and forced marriage. It defined that such crimes could not be dealt with as private family matters and established the GREVIO monitoring mechanism.
