2023年05月01日Thailand‘s Meth EpidemicMarch 28, 2023, Bangkok, Thailand: A bottle of PReP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis), a daily HIV-prevention medication, is seen laying next to a bed during chemsex encounter in Bangkok. recent survey by Chulalongkorn University found that meth use has risen 30% over the last year; 57,900 Thais between 18 and 65 used meth at least once in 2022, up from 44,500 in 2021. The upsurge in meth use is attributed to a sharp increase in supply, leading to a much lower cost and easier access to the drug as it pours into the country through land borders shared with Myanmar, Cambodia, and Malaysia. LGBTQ people are disproportionately affected by Thailand‘s meth epidemic; chemsex has taken a strong grip on nightlife and sex workers.
