    How fruit makes its way to Germany

The green fruit ripens here under supervision for several days before they hit the shelves. The banana is a decisive economic factor: about 10 percent of Edeka‘s fruit and vegetable sales revenues is generated through bananas and pineapples. The banana is Germany‘s second favourite fruit after apples. The average German household buys an average of 16.64 kilograms of bananas according to the consumer research organization.
