00:43.302022年01月01日「新華社」中国の「人工太陽」、プラズマ維持時間1056秒を記録世界最長中国科学院合肥物質科学研究院プラズマ物理研究所で昨年12月30日、「人工太陽」と呼ばれる全超伝導トカマク型核融合実験装置(EAST)が長パルス・高パラメーターにおけるプラズマ維持時間1056秒を記録した。トカマク装置の高温プラズマ維持時間としては世界最長となる。EASTは、中国国家発展改革委員会によって承認された重要な国家的科学技術インフラで、太陽と似た核融合反応メカニズムを備えており、核融合エネルギーの応用探求に使われる。核融合エネルギーの原料は地球上にほぼ無尽蔵にあり、汚染物質を排出することもないため、「究極のエネルギー源」とも言われている。核融合発電を実現する上で、数億度という高温での点火と安定した長時間閉じ込め制御の実現が二つの大きな課題とされる。ここ数年、合肥総合性国家科学センターなどの関連部門の支援を受け、EASTは一連の高度化を実施し、2021年12月初めに今回の実験を開始した。EASTの実験装置運転総責任者を務める龔先祖(きょう・せんそ)氏は記者に「21年前半に電子温度1億2千万度のプラズマを101秒維持したが、今回は電子温度が7千万度近い長パルス・高パラメーターのプラズマを1056秒維持し、注入エネルギーは1・73GJに達した。これは二つの異なる段階の目標であり、千秒プラズマ維持の実現が、将来の定常核融合商用炉の建設に向けた確かな科学的・実験的基礎を築く」と述べた。核融合エネルギーの商用化を目指すには、実験装置、実験炉、商用炉という、避けて通れない段階がある。70年以上にわたる国際社会の共同努力により、核融合研究は実験装置から実験炉と商用炉の段階へと進んできた。EASTは現在、1メガアンペアのプラズマ電流、電子温度1億度のプラズマ、連続維持時間千秒の3条件をそれぞれ達成している。研究者によると、今回の実験は少なくとも22年6月まで続けられ、EASTの研究チームは将来の核融合炉に類似した条件下で、より高パラメーターのプラズマによる定常高閉じ込め状態維持などの科学目標に向けて取り組んでいく。(記者/屈彦、劉美子、陳諾) =配信日: 2022(令和4)年1月1日、クレジット:新華社/共同通信イメージズ
