2019年08月12日Underground storage for K+S12 August 2019, Hessen, Philippsthal: In the Hesse-Thuringia potash district, a K+S employee stands next to the shaft basin with the submersible pump at a depth of about 700 metres. K+S, the Kassel-based potash and salt producer, is now much better equipped against production losses due to drought thanks to a new underground storage facility. The saline waste water from the reservoir (capacity approx. 400,000 cubic metres) is pumped back to the surface from the shaft basin.
