    The first trial of the Imelsa case begins with the ‘money junkie‘ and eight more defendants in the dock

    May 2, 2022, Valencia (Valencian Community, Spain: The former manager of the company of the Diputación de València Imelsa, Marcos Benavent, popularly known as the ‘money junkie‘ (2-left), and the former mayor of Moncada Medina Juan José Medina (2-right) in the first trial of the macro case of Imelsa, at the Audiencia de Valencia, on May 2, 2022, in Valencia, Valencian Community (Spain). The Audiencia of Valencia has hosted the first session of the trial against nine defendants for alleged irregularities in awards to the company Thematica Events. According to the Prosecutor‘s Office, a ‘‘criminal operation‘‘ was designed to divert public funds using Imelsa -currently Divalterra- by its leaders, by decision of the former ‘popular‘ president of the Diputación de València.
