  Water Cannon Salute

  September 30, 2020 - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - Alaska Army National Guardsman Col. Robert Kurtz recently stepped down as the State Aviation Officer for 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment upon retirement September 30, 2020 at the Bryant Army Airfield. Kurtz flew into the ceremony aboard a UH-72 Lakota helicopter and was welcomed with a water cannon salute, the first time an AKNG Lakota has been used for the aviation tradition. He served the Alaska Army National Guard for five years, and was responsible for transforming the unit during an important transitionary period for Army aviators across the nation. He was awarded the federal and state Legion of Merit medals,, along with the coveted Master Aviator Badge, which requires at least 2,000 flight hours and 15 years of experience.   Air Force and Alaska Army Conduct Joint Munitions Load Operations

  September 16, 2024 - Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, USA - An Alaska Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook assigned to the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, participates in joint sling-load operations with U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 3rd Munitions Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept.. 16, 2024. This was the first time munitions Airmen have sling-loaded munitions in a tactical configuration, and the proof-of-concept exercise - the brainchild of Air Force Staff Sgts. Riley Curry and Dyson Clement - is expected to pay dividends in resupply flexibility in remote locations. The Soldiers provided oversight and training prior to the exercise.
