2021年07月20日Florida News - July 20, 2021July 20, 2021, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA: Bill Sanders, 68, pictured on the dock behind his house at 2385 W Bay Isle Dr SE, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in St. Petersburg. Sanders, who lives 40 ft from the shore, has gotten sick from red tide. He fell asleep on his patio a couple weeks ago and woke up with a sore throat and terrible coughing. An MRI showed that his right ear has an infection called vestibular neuritis, a virus that can remain dormant in the body for years but then flare up due to some trigger. The doctor said that itââ¬â¢s likely that Sandersââ¬â¢ immune response to the neurotoxins in the air caused the inflammation. Saunders has almost completely lost his hearing in the right ear, which the EMT told him will likely be permanent. He also has double vision, tinnitus in the right ear, dizziness, and difficulty maintaining balance, which can be improved by months of physical therapy.
