    油まみれのペンギンを救出

    南アフリカ沖の小島、ダッセン島がこのほど、海を汚染した大量の油膜に覆われ、生息するペンギンたちが油まみれになった。政府は油を落としてやるため、ペンギンをヘリコプターで本土に運ぶ救出作戦を計画。自然保護局と空軍が救出するペンギンは、五千羽に上るという。(ロイター=共同)

    「新華社」保護された中国イタチアナグマが野生復帰雲南省金平県

    中国雲南省紅河ハニ族イ族自治州金平ミャオ族ヤオ族ダイ族自治県の自然資源公安局はこのほど、ふさふさした毛を持つ小動物を保護した。首は太くて短く、丸く短い耳が直立し、目はつぶらで、かわいらしい姿をしている。同自治県の分水嶺国家級自然保護局の専門家の鑑定で、小動物は中国で生態的・科学的・社会的価値のある陸生野生動物「三有保護動物」とされる中国イタチアナグマ(学名:Melogalemoschata)だと分かった。専門家によると、中国イタチアナグマは夜行性の穴居性動物で、動きが遅く、川辺や谷、丘陵地および山間部の森林、やぶ、草むらに生息し、中国、インド、ラオス、ミャンマー、ベトナムに分布しており、2008年に国際自然保護連合(IUCN)の絶滅危惧種レッドリストに登録されている。警察が詳細に調べたところ、中国イタチアナグマは健康状態が良好で、野外での生存にも適応できるとの結果が出たことから、人けのない山林で野生に返された。(記者/孫敏)<映像内容>保護された中国イタチアナグマの様子、撮影日:撮影日不明、クレジット:新華社/共同通信イメージズ
