24 April 2019, Berlin: A honey bee sits on a flower of a plum tree, collects the nectar and distributes the pollen that collects on its hind legs. Bees and other insects are essential to satisfy the hunger of the world‘s growing population because, despite technological progress, agriculture depends on pollinators. Monocultures, parasites and pesticides harm the animals. Researchers are trying to stop the worldwide decline of bees. Photo: Wolfgang Kumm/dpa、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ

July 23, 2021, Tarragona, Spain: Beekeeper or honey farmer in Murià El Perelló, Tarragona Spain. Beekeepers and honey bees on the hive, Catalonia, Spain...Extinction of bees. Bees are disappearing at a frantic rate, putting crop pollination at risk...In recent years, beekeepers have reported colony losses, especially in Western EU countries like Spain. Bees are essential to our ecosystems and biodiversity. If pollinators decline, it means that many plant species could decline or even disappear along with the organisms that depend directly or indirectly on them...Pesticides, invasive alien species, diseases, and climate change with rising temperatures and extreme weather events are determining factors that are putting this being so necessary for life on our planet at risk. 78% of wild flower species and 84% of crop species in the EU rely heavily on insects to produce seeds. CLIMATE CHANGE DAMAGE

July 23, 2021, Tarragona, Spain: Apiary and brood frame in Murià El Perelló, Tarragona Spain. The common castor (Ariadne merione) is an orange butterfly with brown lines whose larvae feed almost exclusively on castor (Ricinus communis). This species is found in South and Southeast Asia. Their wingspan ranges between 30-35 mm. Like others in the family Nymphalidae, their front two legs are small and unused, effectively making them four-legged. These smaller appendages are covered with long hairs, giving them the characteristic brush look. Rarely, this species of butterfly is full-bodied. Sometimes they can be seen sipping plant sap. Their main food is the extract from the fruits that have fallen and rotted on the ground. A common castor in Dry-season form, is sitting on a leaf in a forest at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on March 14, 2023. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)、クレジット:Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto/共同通信イメージズ
