    Heat storage tank goes into operation

    19 September 2018, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): An employee of Stadtwerke Halle is walking along the new heat storage facility on the power plant site in Halle/Saale. The cylindrical tank rises 45 metres in height and has a capacity of 50,000 cubic metres of water. According to the operator, it is the largest of its kind in the world. From now on, heat generated during power generation in the neighbouring gas power plant will be stored in the form of hot water. If required, the hot water reaches the consumers with a district heating connection through a pipe network. The heat storage enables a decoupling of electricity and heat.
