People‘s life in the dry jamuna River in Bangladesh

April 30, 2023, Jamalpur, Jamalpur, Bangladesh: About 20,000 people live in Sapdhari Union of Jamalpur District. This area is located in the middle of the river Jamuna surrounded by water. During the dry season, the water recedes due to navigability and large parts of the river turn into sandy arid deserts. People living below the poverty line in these areas suffer from regular river erosion during the monsoon season. In these underprivileged areas, public life is disturbed due to lack of roads, electricity and adequate medical facilities. They have to walk several miles to the town to meet their basic needs. Horse cart is the only vehicle here. But most of the people walk for miles across dried up riverbed every day to their destination due to financial constraints. Boats are the only hope to reach the city. (Credit Image: © Syed Mahabubul Kader/ZUMA Press Wire)、クレジット:©Syed Mahabubul Kader/ZUMA Press Wire/共同通信イメージズ

Horse carts are only vehicle here but are mostly used for transporting goods. But most of the people walk for miles across dried up riverbed every day to their destination due to financial constraints. Boats are the only hope to reach the city...、クレジット:©Syed Mahabubul Kader/ZUMA Press Wire/共同通信イメージズ
