-A Sermon in a Village Church.A Sermon in a Village Church. Artist: Peter Paul Rubens (Flemish, Siegen 1577-1640 Antwerp). Dimensions: 16 5/8 x 22 9/16 in. (42.2 x 57.3 cm). Date: ca. 1630.This sheet, a relatively recent addition to Rubens‘s drawn oeuvre, is exceptional in several ways. Even if it seems to have been slightly cropped (especially at the left and the top), it remains one of the artist‘s largest works on paper. Its technique is much richer than that of most of his other drawings, combining chalk and paints, and gives the work the appearance of an oil sketch. The subject matter may be considered unique for Rubens. In a simple village church, a Catholic priest can be seen preaching to farmers and peasants--men on the left and women on the right--who listen with varying degrees of attentiveness.、クレジット:Album/Metropolitan Museum of Art,NY/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。

(21.8 cm), Ceramics-Tiles, This tile, depicting a male youth with delicate features, would originally have been part of a much larger panel, most likely depicting an outdoor banquet. The rendering of this figure is consistent with contemporary painting, a connection that illustrates the relationship between the royal workshops for bookmaking and those for ceramics.、クレジット:Sepia Times/Universal Images Group/共同通信イメージズ

Date: ca. 1690-1710.In the most recent catalogue of the furniture at Versailles,[1] where two related armchairs à châssis (with drop-in seats) are on display in the refurbished bedroom of Louis XIV, this extraordinary chair model was described as “to be dated probably to the second quarter of the eighteenth century.“[2] This proposed dating was based on “the setting back of the armrest supports“ and “the absence of a stretcher“ between the legs.[3] The chair‘s overall appearance, however, as well as the Italianate, trapezoidal form of the seat make an earlier date much more plausible. Also, the ornamentation and the minimally curved, rather straight-looking arms with their stylized-volute “hand knobs“ betray the pervasive influence of Charles Le Brun (1619-1690、クレジット:Album/Metropolitan Museum of Art,NY/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。表紙、広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用はお問合せください。クレジットは必ず表記してください。

-Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand colouredMagic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 9.The Fairy Glen, Bettws-y-Coed.—This is truly an enchanting spot, and the tourist should spend a good quarter-of-an-hour in feasting his eyes on the beauty of the scene. It is justly named Fairy Glen, for one might almost fancy one saw the whole legion of the airy tribe making merry and skipping about in the sunlight. The prettiest view is that up the Conway, which is here shewn. None should ever leave the neighbourhood of Bettws-y-Coed without visiting this very romantic spot “ The swimming vapour slopes athwart the glen, Puts forth an arm, and creeps from pine to pine, And loiters, slowly drawn. One man gently nudges his friend into conversation with the woman holding a scroll of paper, likely a piece of sheet music. Though the scene is meant to look like a randomly observed moment, the grouping was in fact carefully composed by the artist, with members of his bohemian circle serving as models. The painting dates from Renoir‘s impressionist period, though it is much darker in palette than his other works from the 1870s; its large scale, also unusual for impressionism, suggests that he may have intended it for the Salon., Overall: 73 13/16 x 46 1/4 in. -Young Girl Bathing.キーワード:ピエール=オーギュスト・ルノワール、Young Girl Bathing. Artist: Auguste Renoir (French, Limoges 1841-1919 Cagnes-sur-Mer). Dimensions: 32 x 25 1/2 in. (81.3 x 64.8 cm). Date: 1892.Pierre Auguste Renoir painted a great many canvases of single bathers in outdoor settings, timeless studies of fulsome young women. In the Lehman painting, his model averts her glance, seated in shy three-quarter profile. Innocent yet sensual, this charming nude would have pleased Renoir‘s audience in the later nineteenth century. The picture is thinly painted, its brushwork soft and supple. Renoir probably posed his model in the studio, since the rapidly brushed landscape background is far more imaginary than real. Claude Monet first owned this painting, and remarked to a friend that while the nude was beautiful, the landscape was conventional. 、クレジット:Album/Metropolitan Museum of Art,NY/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。表紙、広告、プロモーション、商業目的での利用はお問合せください。クレジットは必ず表記してください。

-Ortalis, Print, Chachalacas are galliform birds from the genus Ortalis.Ortalis, Print, Chachalacas are galliform birds from the genus Ortalis. These birds are found in wooded habitats in the far southern United States (Texas), Mexico, and Central and South America. They are social, can be very noisy and often remain fairly common even near humans, as their relatively small size makes them less desirable to hunters than their larger relatives. As invasive pests, they have a ravenous appetite for tomatoes, melons, beans, and radishes and can ravage a small garden in short order. They travel in packs of six to twelve. They somewhat resemble the guans, and the two have commonly been placed in a subfamily together, though the chachalacas are probably closer to the curassows.、クレジット:Album/quintlox/共同通信イメージズ ※エディトリアル使用のみ。
