    北朝鮮との国境まで約50㌔。店の看板にハングルが併記されるなど朝鮮族の文化が色濃く反映された中国吉林省延吉市は、「食」が魅力の街だ。海産物や調味料、キムチ、犬肉…。庶民の台所「延吉西市場」では、朝鮮族の料理に欠かせない食材が何でもそろう。中でも目を引くのが湯気を立て、とぐろを巻いたヘビのような黒い塊。豚の腸にもち米、豚の血、ネギなどを入れた「スンデ」と呼ばれる朝鮮半島のソウルフードだ。「夜の1時から作り始めた」という一品は、500㌘で10元(約190円)。寒空の下、熱々のスンデを食べて身も心も温かくなった。(撮影・矢辺拓郎、共同)
