「新華社」日本軍細菌戦部隊元隊員の息子、南京大屠殺紀念館に史料を寄贈

中国侵略日本軍の細菌戦部隊「１６４４部隊」元隊員の息子、竹上勝利さん（７７）がこのほど、江蘇省南京市の侵華日軍南京大屠殺遇難同胞紀念館に同部隊に関する史料を寄贈した。竹上さんは「私は専門の研究者ではない。部隊の真相を明らかにし、父が中国で何をしたのかを知りたかっただけだ」と語った。６月２６日に南京で行われた「日本の友人・竹上勝利氏による文化財史料寄贈式」では、１６４４部隊の留守名簿、第１５８兵站病院の留守名簿、竹上さんの父で同部隊の隊員だった宮下利市さんの兵籍簿の複製資料、中国侵略日本軍の行軍写真集の複写資料などが同紀念館に収蔵された。長野県から３日前に南京に到着した竹上さんが手にしていたのは歴史資料だけではなく、長い間明かされることのなかった家族の過去も含まれていた。竹上さんは数年前、古物を整理していた時に偶然、父のアルバムを数冊見つけた。そこには、中国侵略日本軍の陸軍防疫給水部が華東・華中地区で行った活動が記録されていた。竹上さんは父が１９３２年から３回、衛生兵などとして中国に渡り、１９４１年に１６４４部隊に転属したことを知った。対外的には防疫としていたが、実際にはコレラや腸チフス、ペストなどの細菌を培養していた。これが南京に司令部を置く１６４４部隊の実態だった。竹上さんは「生前は軍での経歴をほとんど語らなかった。学歴は高くなく、性格も温厚だった」と父を振り返った。写真に残虐な場面こそ写っていなかったが、佐藤大雄のような「戦犯」の姿が記録されていたことに、竹上さんは強い不安を覚えたという。「私の知る限り、父のように衛生兵から短期間で中尉へ昇進した人はあまりいない。だから、父自身が悪いことをしたのではないかと心配になった」と話した。佐藤大雄は人体実験の「実行者」だった。南京大学歴史学院の呂晶（りょ・しょう）副教授は「中国侵略日本軍第四防疫給水部の部隊長、１６４４部隊第一科長、福岡陸軍病院院長などを歴任し、携わっていた鼻疽（びそ）菌の研究は細菌戦と密接に関係していた」と語った。しかし、日本軍は戦後、書類を廃棄し、人体実験の犯罪行為を隠蔽（いんぺい）したため、１６４４部隊の悪行は長い間、人に知られることはなかった。だが、真実が闇に埋もれることはなく、追及の手が緩むこともなかった。ここ数年、中国侵略日本軍の細菌戦に関する歴史研究は大きな進展を遂げている。侵華日軍南京＝配信日：２０２５（令和７）年７月１日、...
