Historical ritual room of the Freemasons restored

30 October 2018, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): Torsten Arnold (l-r), restorer at the Landesamt für Denkmalpflege und Archäologie in Sachsen-Anhalt, Jutta Schnitzer-Ungefug, secretary general of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and restorer Gerhard Richwien talk in the historic Freemasonry Room in the former lodge house on the Jägerberg in Halle/Saale. Richwien carried out the restoration work in the hall. The ritual room of the Masonic Lodge “Zu den drei Degen“ has now been extensively restored. Due to its elaborate wall and ceiling design dating from 1906, it is regarded as artistically valuable and a rarity in Germany. Today the Leopoldina has its seat in the former lodge house. In 2009 she also took over the art-historical heritage of the building. Within the framework of guided tours through the main building of the Leopoldina, interested visitors can visit the room in the future. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB、クレジット:DPA/共同通信イメージズ
