    Joseon Tongsinsa ship departs for Japan after 212 yrs A ship carrying Joseon Tongsinsa, a diplomatic delegation of Korea‘s Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) to Japan, departs South Korea‘s Busan port for Japan on Aug. 1, 2023. The ship, restored by the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage in 2018, is scheduled to arrive in the Japanese port of Hitakatsu, Tsushima, later in the day. The Joseon Dynasty sent Tongsinsa 12 times to Japan from 1607-1811 at Japan‘s request to convey advanced cultural aspects, such as traditional Korean medicine, Confucianism, music, painting and choreography.
