The beginning of autumn in Voronezh, Russia - 17 Sept 2022

September 10, 2022, Voronezh, Russia: A passer-by stands in front of the monument to Soviet General Nikolai Vatutin, who led the Voronezh Front during the Second World War, and a mosaic glorifying Soviet science and cosmonautics, on the television center building on an autumn weekend in Voronezh. At the beginning of autumn, Voronezh traditionally prepares for the celebration of City Day. The holiday falls on the third Saturday of September, and the entertainment program can last two or three days. But this year the wide festivities was canceled. A week earlier, Moscow City Day caused popular condemnation in social networks. Given the war with Ukraine, outraged citizens called it ‘‘a feast during the plague.‘‘ Therefore, in Voronezh, the holiday was decided not to be held. But on weekends in September, people took to the streets to do business as long as the warm weather allowed. Reconstruction of the Garrison Church

23 April 2020, Brandenburg, Potsdam: On the roof of the base of the Garrison Church, a steel and concrete constructor is working on the reinforcement for casting the concrete slab. In the background you can see the dome of the church St. Nikolai. A chapel is to be built over two floors in the interior of the approximately 17-metre-high plinth building, in addition to a café, a large exhibition room and seminar rooms. The reconstruction of the tower of the former military church is to be completed by summer 2022. The church was built between 1730 and 1735 according to the plans of the architect Philipp Gerlach and was considered a major work of Prussian Baroque. After the bombing by the Allies on 14 April 1945, only ruins remained, which were blown up and removed only in 1968.
