Rally For Flacoâs Laws At City Hall

April 11, 2024, New York, New York, USA: Animal rights and wildlife activists, elected officials and supporters held a press conference outside of City Hall to introduce ‘‘Flaco‘s Law‘‘ a City Council bill aiming to prevent the deaths of hundreds of thousands of migratory and local birds per year in NYC due to collisions with windows and glass and ingesting rat poisoning. Namedàin honor of Flaco, the Eurasian owl who escaped from captivity in The Central Park Zoo then lived for over a year in the city before dying in February. Activists call for passage of laws to regulate a Lights Out program for buildings and phasing out the use of rodenticides, (ingested by predators,) in favor of rat contraception.
