    住民救った元米軍兵士 ソンミ虐殺事件の現場訪問

    米陸軍の元ヘリコプター操縦士ヒュー・トンプソン氏(中央)と元銃手ローレンス・コルバーン氏(右)が十四日、ベトナム戦争中に起きたソンミ村虐殺事件の現場を三十年ぶりに訪れ、村民らと会った。 二人は一九六八年三月十六日、ヘリコプターでソンミ村ミライ地区上空を飛行中、米軍部隊が住民を皆殺しにしようとする現場に遭遇、米軍部隊と住民との間にヘリを着陸させ米兵に機関銃を向け、住民を救った。この功績でこのほど、米陸軍から「軍人勲章」を授与された。(ロイター=共同)
