    「DPA」 Anklam sugar factory 14 January 2020, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Anklam: Matthias Sauer, managing director of the Anklam sugar factory, taken on the premises of the sugar factory in Anklam. 340 farms in the east of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in the Uckermark (Brandenburg) deliver their sugar beet to the only processor in the north-east. According to the sugar factory, each tonne of sugar earns EUR 320 on the EU market and only EUR 220 on the world market. The capacity of the sugar factory would allow it to process 16 000 tonnes of beet per day. With 135 days of campaigning, that would be about 2 million tons of beets.
