24 March 2020, Saxony, Leipzig: With mouthguards, cook Elke from the “Alter, Leben und Gesundheit“ association prepares lunch for senior citizens in one of the longest apartment blocks in Germany, the “Lange Lene“. More than 200 elderly people are cared for by the association‘s staff in the 335-meter-long prefabricated building of the Leipziger Wohnungsbaugesellschaft (LWB), also as a small family substitute. In order to ensure that lunch is available because the cafeteria is now closed, some of them are having their freshly cooked lunch brought into the apartments. Shopping in the supermarket, mail delivery and garbage disposal are also done for the seniors every day. 1600 people live in the 10 storey high prefabricated building from the 1960s, which is a listed building.
