Confederate statue removal July 7, 2020, Salisbury, North Carolina: The Confederate statue, Fame, was removed from the median in downtown Salisbury, North Carolina after the City Council unanimously voted to relocate the monument. The piece, sculpted by French artist Frederic Wellington Ruckstuhl, was dedicated in 1909 and placed there by the local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. It will be held in storage until a new site in Salisbury‘s 250-year-old Old Lutheran Cemetery is developed for the statue.
