27 October 2020, Algeria, Algiers: An Algerian flag is raised at the premises of the Great Mosque of Algiers, also known as Djamaa el Djazair. The Great Mosque of Algiers was designed by the German architecture firm KSP Juergen Engel Architekten and engineers of Krebs und Kiefer International and constructed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). The mosque, which is considered to be one of the largest mosques of the world and houses the world‘s tallest minaret, will open for prayers on Thursday on the occasion of Al-Mouled Al-Nabawy and will be officially inaugurated on the first of November, the 66th anniversary of the Algerian revolution against France.
